Laws that will change our lives

The current convocation of Kyrgyzstan's parliament resumed its work after its vacation. However, new elections to the Jogorku Kenesh will be held on November 28, 2021, under a mixed system.

The Public Foundation Common Cause decided to remind of the bills initiated by the current convocation, which were actively discussed by society and which affect the development of democratic institutions. Some of them have already been adopted by the JK and signed by the president, and some of them are still under discussion:

  • "On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic" (the law was signed by the President)
  • "On Protection from Inaccurate (False) Information" (the law was signed by the president)
  • "On Financial Reporting by NGOs" (the law was signed by the president)
  • "On Cabinet of Ministers" (the bill was passed on first reading)
  • "On Political Parties" (the bill was passed on second reading)
  • "On Local Self-Government" (the bill was passed on first reading).

Check out our interactive chart below to see which incumbent lawmakers voted on these six bills and how.
